The National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has inducted 31 Police Public Relations Officers and Public Relations specialists at the Force Public Relations Department.
The officers were inaugurated at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Friday, the induction ceremony was conducted by the President and Chairman of NIPR Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, who was represented by the Vice President of the Institute, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura.
“This initiative is a testament to the commitment of the force towards fostering continuous training and development among its personnel. The induction of these image managers into the NIPR is in alignment with the Force’s adherence to the standards and criteria outlined in the NIPR Act, 2004, law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, governing professional practice within the clime of Public Relations,” the Force stated.
While addressing the inductees, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who was represented by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, encouraged the newly inducted officers to effectively apply their acquired knowledge in their official capacities as spokespersons.
Egbetokun stressed the role of the officers in improving communication and promoting positive relations between the Force and the general public.
Meanwhile, ACP Adejobi in his remarks expressed gratitude to the IGP for his efforts in improving the Public Relations Department, adding that it is unprecedented.
The Force also disclosed its commitment to upholding professionalism, continual learning, and the strict observance of ethical standards across all operational spheres.
